The Marlin Spike is a tool used in marine ropework, sometimes called a fid. Shaped in the form of a polished metal cone tapered to a rounded or flattened point, they aid in such tasks as unlaying rope for splicing, untying knots, drawing marline tight using a marlinspike hitch, and as a toggle joining ropes under tension in a belaying pin splice.
We call ours the "Grimes Spike" because it seems like it would be something that Rick Grimes of The Walking Dead would use to take care of incoming zombies.
Hand machined from 1/2" diameter brass, copper, 655 silicon bronze or grade 5 titanium, this feels great in the hand, and would make a great addition to your camping gear, go-bag, etc.
